NY chicken lover!!!!

So there is snow. More than I'd expected. Thank the Lord for my snowblower. Took me some time. I should have done some last night. Anyhow on my first pass I hit something. Ugh!:barnie  It jammed up the blower. It was a cage I'd set for the squirrels. The cage is ruined but the blower started right up after I'd pulled the mess out. Thank the Lord. I've have been in big doo doo if it hadn't. I do know a guy who will come to the house but that might have proved expensive.

So all is well. Warm inside, but have been out twice since just to keep on top of things. Hard to believe it will be all melted on Friday.

Don't know why I'm telling anyone this. What's your story for the first snow of the year?

Hope all are safe and warm.

Love ya Rancher, still not ready for the winter, Hicks.

After using the 4 wheeler to plow the last two years the landlord bought a second hand snow blower because the 4wheeler needs work. This thing is a beast! Got out there to start snow blowing (had never used a blower before) snow is very packy and heavy. Didn't get half of it done and started seeing smoke and it started squealing. The auger stopped turning. So I called the place he bought it from and the owner said it sounded like a belt burned up so he came to get it and he plowed out my driveway....yay. He said he'd bring it back when it was fixed, hoping he brings it back today. I think the news said our area got eight inches. Good thing is the majority of that was plowed. I really hate NY winters.

thats tough ...Can be scary this time of year
What Tractor / Model do you have ? that has a snow blower too

22hp Husqvarna. I put the 42" 2 stage snowblower attachment on it, pricey but works great. Once you get all the attachment parts on the tractor it's easy converting back to the mower. Pulley assembly slides on two bolts and then two pins, blower attaches slid on two bolts then a long rod. We have about a hundred yard long driveway, three swipes. I can blow to our coop and to our outdoor wood boiler.
I did put on tire chains and weight to the back.
