What a beautiful mixed collection! Every time my local breeder gets speckled sussex in they are gone before i can get there. Never heard of Ko Shamo

Coons I lost 4 to coons already. Caught them though and slow cooked them for my chickens lol

Hahha thats the way to teach them a lesson. I keep a pellet rifle by my door in case some come by. But i also extra reenforced my coop and run. But as we all know all it takes is no weak spot for them to come in

Hi im in northern NY. I have black,blue, and splash Ameraucana and a few silkies. I’m starting over with large fowl after a weasel or ermine took out my bantam flock in November.

Wow sorry to hear that. Weasels are nasty and can fit through holes that we think would be too small for anything to get through

I didn’t realize the red squirrels had caused damage in the back of the coop. Last summer we had a horrible time with them doing damage, they caused damage to our garage too. I learned a hard lesson never underestimate predators, always be on guard. Just because you have never seen a certain predator doesn’t mean it’s not out there.

Thats so true and never thought of thought. Always expect the unexpected I guess. And i had squirrels chew away parts of my garage before and found a few dead ones in the roof after winter.

Hi! I am in northern NY, we have about 30 hens of all different breeds! Over the years, the things that have become important are a colorful egg basket, different colored birds, few broodies, and lower maintenance in cold weather. My favorite “older” bird is a Speckled Sussex, my favorite adult is a Naked Neck, and my favorite in the baby group we are integrating is a Cream Legbar. We love them all, each family member names a few in each batch we get, but I am the chicken mother. Person who feeds them and brings goodies has its perks.

I will have that many one day lol. Just gonna wait till next year to add more. Got to expand my run first which i plan on doing this fall. Already have a second coop that is empty right now and might use for something else since that one can only handle 6 chickens.

I always wanted ducks but my wife thinks they make too much noise. So i will just settle for watching them at the lake by my house

I can not get into the naked necks lol, probably same reason i do not like hairless cats. But they are starting to grow on me. And i get it i am the chicken dad lol thet hear my voice and come running. They know i will give them attention and food, probably care more about the food.

glad to hear NY chicken lovers. I'm back into chickens since my wife died 6 years ago. I've starting with Java, my main flock. ( Sandhill) BCM, Delaware, EE's (TSC) and Americana. (Cackle) An Aussie, Sapphire gem. I've got 9 Deathlayer chicks broody hatched. A del hen and BCM hen. NN that are very heavy from TSC. Sandhill sent 9 extras but I have no idea what they are. 80 total. Looking to get rid of the Sandhill extras. The plan is to have one coop Java, one coop Delaware, One coop EE's and Americana, One coop BCM, (though I really would rather Cuckoo Marans or Birchens).
Dels don't usually go broody and she's a good mom. The 2 younger Coppers went broody and hatched chicks. I do have CROW a Ceryami and ZOMBIE, a guy gave me some eggs for a broody and I kept them. Anyhow I'm hoping to make connections and it's be nice to do a chicken stock. TTFN,
