Hello, Everyone!!
I can definitely relate to the "want"versus the "need " issue....smile!!! I surely don't NEED any more chickens....... but definitely want (and WILL get) more. They're quite addictive!! Does anyone locally have any Blue Laced Red Wyandottes??!! I have 2 currently...and am looking to add more to my flock.

I just saw pics of the BLW and they are sooo pretty.......................anyone have any standard brahmas, buff ones? My DH decided that's the one he wants...........but not from a hatchery

Good morning everyone
A couple of years ago if someone told me chickens was addictive, I would have rolled my eyes and pictured them in the looney bin. HA HA the jokes on me.
My poor DH, I don't think so! getting a FEW chickens was his idea. Then he put me in charge! Now we're getting 10 dozen eggs a week for a family of 4. I only have 3 people buying eggs from me weekly. And I just order eggs for incubating. I love the CrAzY egg auction - too much. I will be hatching chicks monthly.
Last summer I bought and sold chicks until I turned a profit of $15 (didn't include feeding them) My goal now is to sell enough eggs to cover the cost of feed. And to sell enough chicks to cover the cost of the incubator. I like this hobby. But I think the best part of it is meeting people that also enjoy it. Who else could understand wanting blue, green, pink, terracotta, and chocolate eggs. Or chicken TV. Or lavender hens, painted silkies, blue, black and splash ameraucanas or the Kellogs Cornflakes rooster.
I think I'm rambling a bit too much now.

My husband just rolls his eyes at me lol. But he didn't help much, he is the one who bought me an incubator for Christmas

He enjoys them too, hes just not as addicted as I am !

Good Morning to All!!! I'm so glad I joined BYC!! It's fantastic.....wish I found it a lot sooner!! Always nice to converse with others who share a love and respect for our feathered friends.
Yes, the BLR Wyandottes are truly beautiful......and they possess all those wonderful Wyandotte traits.....a combination that' s hard to beat!! I think I'm going to perhaps order some top quality chicks this Spring. I have several breeders picked out. Speak to y'all a bit later!! --Kathy

Good Afternoon NY'ers!

I am interested in trading some roosters for good laying hens...They are beautiful, but taking up valuable space that could be used for hens. I think these birds did very well showing for the previous owner, so if anyone is interested, let me know. I want to keep my Plymouth Barred Roo (I know he isn't rare, but he is my favorite), one of the Lakenvelders and possibly the Dark Brahma

I want to trade the following:

1 Lakenvelder
1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte
1 Dark Brahma (I am hemming an hawing about this one...i really like him)
