NY chicken lover!!!!

Hello, Everyone!!!
I haven't been online a lot during the past few days......have been doing income taxes in between everything else. Here's a quick update: so far I have 4 Delawares and one adorable banty Cochin hybrid!!!! All were born today..........5 more just started to pip.I'll most likely not get much sleep tonight(smile).
Joanne, awesome pics of your babies!!! They're so CUTE!!! Hopefully you'll be adding 24 more to the ranks of the "Fuzzy Butt Brigade" on March 2nd!!!! You have such a gorgeous mix of chicks!!!
AmyJ and happyhensny, Wishing you much luck with the remaining viable eggs!!!! I hope you'll keep us posted as to how it goes!!! LovinMyPeeps, the BLRW eggs should be fine as long as they were packed well.......a little bit of coldness really doesn't seem to affect their hatchability(believe me, I know about that one.......the Delaware eggs that are now hatching were almost frozen when I received them, due to the postal truck breaking down). I hope all of them hatch for you!!!! It's great you and Sonew123 got to meet and dine together!!!!
Sandy, yes, that dark squirmy worm-like entity is definitely a good thing!!!!! That's great....all are fertile!!!! As far as counting the days, I just count a full 24-hours as a full day.....Day 1 ,in your case , would simply be around noon the next day. It's really not too hard once you do it a few times.
Well, back to crunchin' the numbers......and running to check the bator every few minutes(smile). Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a bunch more little ones. Speak to you soon......a good night to all!!!!!
Kathy

C O N G R A T S !!! Kathy, pics please. FUZZ BUTT BRIGADE - I like the sound of that.

Amy when's your hatch date! Coming soon!

I'm looking for RIR or Barred Rock hatching eggs for my next batch - around the 6th or 7th. Does anyone have any for sale or trade?

Joanne

Good Morning(on this snowy Tuesday)!!!!!
Here's a quack (oops, I mean "quick"....smile) update . So far there are 6 Delawares, 4 banty Cochin/Brahma hybrids and 1 Ameraucana hybrid. There are still 2 Delawares and 2 more hybrids waiting to bust out of their oval enclosures. So far all the eggs from my flock are 100% fertile......it SHOULD be with so many roosters(smile).
Joanne, thanks for sending your best wishes my way...it's appreciated!!! I'll try to find the charger so I can (attempt to) post some pics. Will have to figure it out. I'm really NOT technologically inclined!!!
A Great Day to All!!!!!
Kathy

I had to have my DD show me a short cut to post my pics, there are times I hate my Mac.

Congratulations Kathy!

Lockdown is today!!! The eggs all look great so hoping they make it to hatch! All my other eggs were fertile, but they quit at different points of development

My broody is doing a great job so far

So if all goes well we will have 4 new babies again in March

I thought you were only going to have 4 different pens Joanne lol. I dont know anyone that has barred rocks or RIR. My Dad had RIR when he was younger. He said his rooster was always fine with him but would beat my poor grandfather up all the time lol. I'm really happy with my red sexlinks. They are really awesome egglayers. So hopefully all my babies from them will be too :)If you want any of my eggs to incubate,Joanne you are more than welcome too. My mille fluer duccles are pure now

My broody is sitting on some pure eggs so hope I get some more millies in March! I cant wait till it gets nicer outside to do some work on the coops etc! I'll be crossing my fingers for your hatch too Joanne! Hope the rest of your eggs do well too Kathy!

Black silkie frizzle trio
White Cochin hens
Red frizzle pair
Young lavander split silkies
Young black silkie pair
Blue salmon & salmon colored bantam faverolle
And I am getting a Golden Sebright pair

Next I am thinking of some Sebright eggs to incubate

I love the Faverolles the most they are winter hardy, soft, very friendly and for a bantam they lay a
good size egg..... at a very young age you are able to tell what their sex is

Hi There(Again)!!!!
Thanks to all who responded to my previous post........I greatly enjoy and appreciate the feedback!! This little laptop is my biggest link to the "outside world"(can you tell that I don't get out much??!!). Thanks for your vote of confidence in my( as of yet unproven )ability to post pics on this site. My DH, Gary, is worse than I at doing these kind of things......so I'm left to stumble through it all on my own.
Another Delaware has joined the "tiny hineys" since my last post. THIS one decided to be a bit different.....it came through the "wrong " end of the egg(the narrow end). Had to lend a helping hand to this one. It's tiny legs are somewhat "crumpled up" and stiff. So I've been doing a bit of chicken"physical rehab"bending and flexing the legs at all the joints)..........seems to be working very well......it can now stand. One more Del and 2 more hybrids to go yet.....for this "batch hatch" anyway. I always keep the bator full.......I just mark the eggs very carefully as to when they went into the bator. I should have some babies hatching every week for quite a while.........but you know that old saying........."Never count your chickens.........."
Hi, Chickens14!!! Your hatch should go very well........it's very normal to be nervous the first couple of hatchings!!! We're all keeping our fingers crossed for your successful hatch.........and for everyone expecting little ones!!! Let us know how goes it!!!!!! Sounds like you have some really nice banties!!!! Welcome to the "NY" FORUM!!!
Time to go care for the crew again. Until later........................
Kathy
