GAH! I hope he gets the generator up in time for you! I'd be panicking to beat the band. Yes I too have had quite enough of the snow machine (as I look outside and it's STILL snowing) I just want to piddle around in my garden

is that so much to ask??? My two barred rocks and Ameraucana roo will go outside, my 3 mille fleur bantams run (or fly) under the porch and squak at me. I'm almost looking forward to mud season.

He hooked up the generater... the temp was 29.7C oh I just checked two are cracking

We lost power too! It was out 4 or 5 hours and I am on lockdown also! The temp got down to 70, nothing happening yet, so I hope we still get to have a hatch

I think we got about a foot also.

If you've got hot water , fill as many plastic jugs as you can to provide warmth. Wrap them in towels if they are too hot. Keep checking and replacing as needed. Never give up, never surrender.

Good(???) Morning, Everyone!!!!
OMG.......we about 19-20 inches of snow here in Ulster Heights!! With more supposedly on the way....pray that the y're WRONG!!!! While all the ducks and geese gleefully "dive into" the piles of snow, needless to say, the chickens are far from thrilled......they are definitely not amused. The 2 Blue Slate turkeys are "on the fence" on this issue.........despite the look of disgust on their faces, they still faithfully follow me around the yard.
We, too, lost power for a while last night. I kept repeating the mantra "No need to panic.......we've done this before". Collecting myself, I immediately covered the incubator with a blanket to maintain the heat already in there. Since I always(probably unfoundedly) worry about the embryos "suffocating", I occasionally lift the bator lid to allow air inside. I gave the chicks a piece of fake lambs wool to snuggle in.......works very well. And then I prayed that the power outage wouldn't last too long!!!! Thankfully, it came back on after 4 hours. My last Delaware hatched during the outage.......everyone's fine!! My final tally for this batch: 8 Delawares and 6 hybrids. The Delaware born with the "scrunched up" feet is doing very well........up and running with the rest of the F.B. Brigade(smile)!!!! I'm so relieved!!!!
Jen, I'm glad your Faverolle eggs are doing well!!! Did those 2 make any further progress in hatching??!! I remember watching my very first hatch......so exciting......and a bit worrisome at the same time!!!! Years later and the thrill and the exhilaration of watching babies hatch still rings true........I'll never tire of it.......nor will I ever take for granted the miracle unfolding before my very eyes. Let us know how the hatch goeth!!!
AmyJ, how's your "lockdown" going??!! Any signs of "ignition" yet(smile)??!! Please keep us all posted!!!!I can't think of a better way to spend a snowday!!!
Well, must go for now.....time to shovel a path(thrills). Until later.................
Kathy
