Good morning everyone!

When I awoke my DH this morning, he told me he had a strange dream about not finding a box for the new chicks. He traveled everywhere but nobody he knew would give him a box. Then I told him a buff chick hatched this morning. He didn't know that it's HATCH DAY!

I've got a chick!

Question: The humidity is down to 49 should I add water or leave it alone?

Joanne

Congrats Joanne! Hope you have more to come! I'm not sure if you should add water or not. Were any more pipped or doing anything?

Good Morning To Everyone!!!!!
My tiny Brochin just hatched out at 9:02 this morning......looking healthy and vigorous, surprising after being several days late!!! Now I hope a few more hatch soon so s/he has someone to snuggle with.
Joanne, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! More to add to the ranks of the FBB!!!! Please keep us posted as to how it's going!!! Just keep an eye on the chicks.........if they appear "sticky" and are having trouble hatching, only then would I add more water. But I think they should be fine with the current conditions.
Kathy
P.S. I mapquested the distance from Ellenville to Tivoli, PA (where Chickenstock is to be held this year). I't's only about a 3-hour drive from me........not bad at all!!! Now to try to bribe DH to attend!!! Or maybe I could hitch a ride with someone from the area, if anyone's going.

My chicks hatched all through the night and as of now I have 10 chicks. There are 2 pips out of the 4 eggs that are still in the incubator.

Joyryder, This hatch I locked down with the humidity at 45-50. It stayed there until chicks started hatching and then it went up to 69. None of my chicks were sticky, they all hatched really fast and everything went really smoothly. I would leave it alone, it should go up as they hatch unless they are looking sticky while hatching like ancona91 said.

Some pics of the new chicks, buff orps and a buff orp roo over some sex link hens.

morning all & congrads on your lil peeps! Last night my one hen went broody she has 3 or 4 eggs under her & then I put some of my Bantam Faverolles in my lil bator 21 days to go... My two lil ones that hatched during the storm are doing great... while cleaning the ones bottom last nite I noticed a growth? Kind of looks like a blood blister, round protruding doesn't seem to bother the peep... so
will keep an eye on it..
I am still trying to recover from the storm I was ahead now I'm behind ... I am hoping for a nice weekend to get into the coops & clean

Glad they are doing well:) I know I am behind on everything here too from the power being out for 4 days! It is supposed to get near 50 or so later this week. That would be wonderful lol.
