NY chicken lover!!!!

I finally gave up on the inside chores today. I went out and worked on separating my chickens into pens according to breed. Had fun, got hot and dirty. Nice day in the sun. It was so warm today! 30's! There will always be dishes and laundry.

We had a new hot water heater installed on Friday. On Thursday I asked my husband to clean up the basement. I went in this AM only to find it still embarrassingly filthy. SSSOOO we cleaned it very thoroughly today. My son does a better job cleaning up after himself.

Then I came up and cleaned out the downstairs' closet and my husband hid. Anybody want to trade husbands?

Mine sounds like yours, so I guess I'll just keep mine. I canned 13 quarts of saurkraut, vacuumed, dishes, laundry.....does the cleaning ever end. I guess it doesn't when you're married and have kids at home.

Oh oh, I want to learn how to can saurkraut....

WE had our first 4H Poultry meeting at Megans, aka MugsMagees house. Talked about what we are going to start learning about, the fair, what programs are out there for the kids, etc.

But, the one thing we forgot, was what the name of the club is going to be! So we will have to think about it , and come up with a name. AT the next meeting, we will need to present names and vote on it.

Its not too late to join, just let me know if you hve kids betwen the ages of 5 & 19 who are crazy for poultry, turkeys, ducks, phasants, guineas, any type of fowl.

We will meet once a month, at members house on a rotating basis. Things we will learn about: what makes up an egg, egg judging, fertilization, incubation, hatching, breeding, care of poultry, meat quality, egg quality, showmanship, public speaking, showing, and more!

So I am guessing that since nobody has answered my previous post that no one in NY has bantam silver penciled plymouth rocks? I was hoping for some chicks or hatching eggs. In April. Guess I will have to keep looking.

Yes Jerseygirl, that would be great. I am in Ulster county. How was your experience with them? I am waffling between silkies and these. I have barred rocks and love them. How were the bantams for you? Any reason you sold them all? How loud is the roo? Sorry for all the questions but I like to hear feedback from owners. Thanks!
