I'm guessing there are no chicks at yours either. Please let us know if there are.

Glad to see your auction is going well!

just called oswego TSC they are not selling any chicks in store this year.
sad.png
unless you want to put order in for 25. the city of oswego passed law so they cant sell the usual 6 min.
i think it is because chickens are illegal in the city of oswego. this kind of sucks because i go to oswego store the most.

good news is fulton TSC is going to have next week sometime. the regular 6 min.

PS my call eggs are rockin on day 22 i'm on the edge of my seat.

This is the dilemma....we don't want to keep our showable hens in the breeder pen for fear of their back feathers being yanked out. But if they are by far the best, shouldn't we continue breeding them? Ugh. I have a few Lav Am girls that I love! And my White Orps are stunning. I have a feeling the 4 of us will be competing against each other, but hopefully this brings attention to the breeds. Also, Jean Ribbeck said they are considering doing a points system for shows (for the Ameraucanas). Points are awarded based on how many birds are in the category yours wins against. She posted this recently on the Ameraucana thread. This could be a ton of fun for all of us! I'm looking forward to it!

edited to fix spelling.

Put the roosters in with the show hens, one day a week. That will give them enough sperm to last for a week or more, and they won't get their feathers pulled off.

I might have to get some lav Ameris from you. I'll talk to you tonight. Maybe we can do a swap!

I am so sorry. There were posting elsewhere, two in fact, that said they got chicks and ducks from TSC but they didn't have their location of where they lived so I thought it's not to early for chicks.

As to the lavenders I just threw that out there for tgrlily. Not nice, I'm sorry but I just figure you'd get that if hinkjc is selling them for $20 ea, there was no way TSC would have them. Thats' why I put they got them from PA. If figured you'd put two and two together. I doubt any of these places would carry any breeds for less than $5 anyhow.

Besides how good can they be for less than $5?

Please forgive me.

Yes, we definitely need to keep breeding them. I'm going to try to make some saddles to save their backs. When the boys get too rough, we opt for weekend conjugal visits with the girls rather than keeping them together all the time.

Hahahaha... yep, we'll be competing against each other! But it's all good. We will bring attention to the Ameraucanas & to the lavender color. It'll also be great to see other Orpingtons there. Buffs are still the norm, so we'll really be shaking it up a bit!

I completely forgot about the meeting! We'll be there! I would like to incorporate Blue Wheatens in with my Wheatens. If you have BW to spare, I'd love to trade. Also, the Lavs are ornery lil' buggars....excellent hatch rate every time!
