yes they are. How do they look compared to yours? You don't need to say if you don't want to. Just hope these look as nice as hers so you can get some eggs. I sell them to you cheap. $20 an egg.

I'm just kidding relax.

No, I had no rooster, my girls are low classed hatchery girls. One is a runt. I do like them though really they aren't friendly but they are ok with other breeds. I don't mind the egg size either, but I sell eggs and need bigger for that. I've really found some of my frizzle bantams yolks as big as a store bought.

Now I realized that I've been wanting white egg layers and that Barred Hollands lay a white egg don't they?

gotta go I'm still tired from my trip.

take care

Get some eggs from you or her? Cuz it'll be a long while before you have eggs! Silkies take forever to mature. Wish she had pics of the Porcelains on her site.

All I need from the dominiques is the barred gene.... want to rent me a hen for a couple weeks?

All her pics look like girls. Here are some of mine.....

Broodie... wish I looked that good right after having babies...lol

Gizmo... my spash silkies are amazing! She's better than her mom. The new babies already can't see.

Ninja... lost him to a predator last summer. Using his son now. The cockerel has better comb color & throws nice smokey colored chicks that stay pure white.

Yes if it will help you. That's what friends are for.

She didn't have a bunch of porcelains so I doubt you could get any or me either for that matter. She gave me what she could so DW would stay interested on my behalf.

I know nothing about silkies so you'll just have to wait and see if they hatch.

NOW on another note,

what does anyone here know about this Rudy Brouilette? I "won" a pair of Brown leghorn rosecomb bantams he donated to the ALBC silent auction for the ALBC conference.

Well it seems I got duds.

One even though the rooster is mating pretty good the fertility is nearly zilch. It just may be zilch I'm not sure.

I have tried to hatch some eggs and got nothing. I have or had 5 under a broody and one got broken while I was away and one was clear (i just candled) two I'm not sure of and the last I think might be ok. They'd be over a week under her.

The hen has white legs and I'm pretty sure it's a fault and for a leghorn she doesn't lay very well.

I just can't believe he'd donate bad stock. He had them appraised at $40 for the pair.

I figured he was a big deal because he gave a talk on incubation with Don Schrider (who is a big deal) at the conference.

I've contacted the other person who won a pair of single combed bantam brown leghorns to see how hers are doing.

Anyone got any thing to add that may help me not feel like I got cheated? I personally would never donate crappy stock for something as important as the ALBC conference. Nor would I sell it or give it away with out letting the receiver know it's not my best.

Thanks

Rancher

I've been emailing a few folks that have porcelains. I'll find some eventually. I like the new colors a lot. When your silkies hatch, I can identify the colors for you if you want.

Thanks! That would be so nice! She'll come back home fertile with F1 cuckoo or possibly crele Dorking mix. I have a female with black & white lacing that Noah can't show, but a male from that mix can be bred back to her. I may also end up ordering cuckoo Dorkings from Sandhill. I just don't need an order of 25 hatchery chicks & am concerned about their quality. Cuckoo Dorkings were created in the 1850s by breeding with Dominiques, so I'm basically recreating the original. There are so many problems with today's dorkings that an outcross may be really good for them.

The Doms I'm getting are SQ stock from a poultry judge. You're welcome to have some if you'd like.

You'll love the orpingtons as layers. They are laying machines & they lay a huge egg. They eat more than I'd like because the good quality ones are enormous.

I just read your other post. I've heard of him & know he shows locally, but that's all I know. Do you have any way of contacting him? I would try to do that. I thought Leghorns were supposed to have yellow legs. Are they very young? Maybe he's not getting the job done. You could try putting him over another bantam & see if her eggs are fertile.

I agree with Renee. I have a whole flock of chickens various breeds from Karen and Rudy. They were just here for the 4H meeting. Very nice people and I don't know for sure but I would think they would want to know. I have 3 different leghorns and the lay pretty good and Anconas and they are very nice. Give they a call. It can't hurt. Maybe it is a bantam thing?
