NY chicken lover!!!!

Cass - I just left TSC in Glenmont! The 2 girls there in charge of chick-sitting were so attentive. If there was a pasty butt they took it in back and cleaned it. The were a couple chicks that weren't as lively so they took them to the "hospital" brooder in the back to be cared for away from the activity. Very caring girls there and they know their stuff!

Wow... wish they were like that at our TSC. Last year they were letting a chick get pecked to death by the other chicks & I made them give it to me. All it needed was to have some blue-cote put on it. I bought mine there! They have everything they need right there to care for any emergencies or health problems. It's so frustrating to see all the pasty butts not getting cleaned up.

Its a 45 minute drive for me, I drop off the birds, and leave. There is no reason to stay because they mail you your money the next week. You can't get it after the auction anymore.

I've heard that Kings also has a store called Kings Backroom. Does anyone know if it is open on auction days?

I'm told that they have gotten rid of the furniture store, and that is where the auction is now. They also had a food store, I don't know about that.

I have a lot of birds I need to dispose of, so next sunday, I'm there....

I didn't know that there was more than one person who knew their stuff at Glenmont....but it's good to hear. I HAVE to stay out of there. I have absolutely NO space to brood anything, even if it is little, fuzzy and cute. (Much less the 6 the state requires stores to sell)

On a better note, the three 75' trees that were residing on the space I want my coop to go are on the ground and waiting to be limbed out. (Got dark before we got that far. Had to wait for wind to die down) AND my floor is framed and sitting beside the barn. SOOOOoo this time next year I won't have to avoid TSC, I can go look til my heart is content. And if a few follow me home, I'll have a home for them.

Cass - They didn't really have anything I truly wanted. Orpingtons, RIR, Plymouth X's. Now, if they had some Sussex or BLRW that would be a different story!

I think Kings use to be 20%, but don't quote me.

Kings is just such a long haul for me, Bridgeport is 20 minutes closer so that is a deciding factor for me. And, I got better prices at Bridgeport...

I also think people know I bring Marans & Ameraucanas there. I'm taking a beautiful quad of Marans, Silver blue Salmon experiments that I'm no longer interestd in working on. The rooster is the most beautiful rooster I've ever seen, but I can't keep everything since I'm now incubating Lav Orps and Coronations. No room for experimenting anymore.
