Okay then! I agree a Chicken Party at the Pole Barn unless we all decide on somewhere else. My house is fine but I don't have a barn so if it rains we're ummmmm up the creek with some pretty annoyed birds! I think the Chicken Swap nearby would be super duper too! I would love to get my feet wet with swaps and auctions but being such a newbie I would rather start small with something like this. Of course Chickenstock sounds too cool and I'll probably try that as well. I have a small pig in the freezer I can bring and we can roast him if you all want. I won't go into details but he eluded me into the woods around the house one time too many - he was an escape artist and he learned at the trotters of one of our larger females how to get past the electric fence by grounding it out and well - let's just say I do hunt.

So on to brighter news, I'll bring the piggie for the spit (he's not super big but probably about 50 lbs) and we'll plan from there.

I'll take a couple of those D'Uccles when we meet! Yay, that is if you still have them - I only have one so far that hatched who is a MFD.

Hey the Sun is shining today - whoo whhhoo hoooo!

There is a Chickenstock already planned for the summer. I don't remember off hand when, but if you look for the thread on Chickenstocks, it is there.

Sue

It's on June 25 - I just decided I will be in Florida visiting my sister.

Maybe another time then.

Odgensburg (where the meet is scheduled)is 5 hours away for me and is too far for a day trip. I'd go if you had a get together, I'd like to go. I work Saturdays though and probably wouldn't be able to get a Saturday off in July or August. But I'd try to come!!!!!!

I'd love to come to a local event. I'm gonna try to go to Chickenstock in Ogdensburg too, but if there is a local event I would love to come and fondle the chickens and learn from more experienced chicken keepers.

I already said Potato Salad, that goes good with pig, right? I can throw in some paper plates and a case of water if that helps out. I'll even spring for the fancy kind of plates so the food doesn't fall off , but plain old "on sale" water.

vmdanialson: The first post for the Chickenstock has been updated with local hotels ...I'm not going for a day either, I'll make a weekend out of it. It's only 3 hours for me, but I want to stick around til the very end to learn as much as I can.

It sure is... wish we hadn't sold the RV. It would be perfect for all the chickenstocks & shows I'd like to attend.

Any word on the swap yet?
