Also...you've still got those frizzles and whatever else? Give me some prices...may have a buyer..she is coming Thursday...gotta email her back and tell her I may have more for her if she wants them!

Hey....get to "watering" will ya! LOL

You with all the poultry mags...you haven't seen that electrified poultry netting yet? Good grief! I think that's what Fyre is talking about??.....

Well I still got the friz chicks born on the 5th. Get anything I don't care I just want them gone. Just don't take my Brn Leghorn chicks or you die. The friz are easy enough to tell they're all white and smaller than the Dels. and EE's. I don't think the girl from TSC is serious about having chickens. I've moved them to the back room which I never did get the chance to vacumm. My back is killing me from the work I did yesterday spreading cardboard and planting tomatoes before I leave. Making sure there was food for everyone.

I'm not keeping the silkies unless I can get more eggs from Claudia cuz i don't want to cross them with another line. Just blues though. I may be going to AL but Lord I don't want to hatch anymore chicks til next year. Trylin - did you see my posting about that orp from AL that I now realize is a splash and i can cross her with a blak to get blues?

I have been watering so don't touch anything.

Just a few more things to pack and it's up, up and away.

rancher

Is this a prayer or a plea?! LOL

Good to know you've been busy taking care of business, if I do need to go over there..I will "sniff" my way around! LOL Okay...whoo...need less coffee in the a.m.!

Well..if I hear back from the one from last week...she now wants more and well...who am I to NOT accomodate her...what kind of a person would I be?
tongue.png
Anyhow...I will call or maybe you check emails and I will try to do it the night before..you never did give me a code to the garage...*evil snicker* anyway...I will get 2.00 a chick for you. Okay...I just reread what I wrote and I am not even making sense to myself..do the best you can okay?
lol.png
Its gonna be a goooood day!

Renee...I've got more silkies hatching out....is there anything cuter than a silkie baby? OMG..I've got this really light colored, kind of a mother of pearl chick with gorgeous leg feathering already..I love these darn things. Now that I have a blue pullet with the correct toes and spacing and very nice fluffy head and beard, I can't wait to cross her with the splash roo I got from Tim...should be very nice and next year I want to add another line....why not right? Life is too short...sink or swim! LOL I've got these hundred acres over here that need filling up.....

Hey cass and all those who gave me suggestions and all about the auction....thank you so much!

Just out of curiosity...what have you done to try and break her...mind you I've got broodies coming out of my ears over here...last year I did the dunk and it didn't work. I used ice water and held them down for Pete's sake! They went right back to the nest soaking wet and all. I've got a rabbit cage with a wire bottom that I will use if I wasn't sick and twisted and actually enjoyed having broody hens. I've got 2 hoop coops and well...one is filled with broodies and their nests!
roll.png
I went out last night and my precious little black naked neck/ameraucana cross is broody....its got to be the ameraucana half as between them and my wyandottes and silkies.....oy...her mother who is full naked neck right from a hatchery has never gone broody and I've owned her from a chick now to 2 and a half years. Well...apparently I've rambling fever this morning....sorry!

Okay==I have a silkie chick with wryneck. I have given her (im assuming) poly vil sol. What else can I give her? I also put polyvisol in their waterer. I will give her another direct dose when I get home from work.

My method is to give them each one or two one day olds and the broody breaks and they end up laying within about a month. That said, I have 11 baby chicks

I have Buff Orpingtons, Silver sebrights, and mutt banties (with white crested black polish in the mix). I live about an hour south of Albany. You can pm me if you are interested.

One of my BOs just hatched 5 little chickies a few days ago. Unfortunately, she had gathered 12 eggs over a period of days so she had to abandon the unhatched to tend to the hatched. We took the rest in, two were clear, the others had started to develop. The incubator was FULL and 3 days from lockdown, aaack! I candled and found one egg that needed to be removed, so we put what I hoped was the furtherest along of the BO eggs. Sure enough, it hatched within 24 hours,

and momma accepted it, pecking me as if she thought I had stolen it and was late returning it. I kept the others warm and when we went into lock down last night, was able to definitely remove another egg and squeeze the last 4 in...hope they hatch too

Ahhh...I took her out of the nest a few times? No really, I took her golf ball. I put her outside in the run and closed the pop door . (with food and water out there of course) I sprayed her with the hose. Then I gave up. All I succeeded in doing was training her to jump out of the nest when I come in, eat like a fiend, poop and drink a gallon of water and jump back in the nest the minute I leave the coop. I just can't torture her any more, it's not in my nature to fool with Mother Nature. So if she hatches that golf ball, I'll raise it.

Then a lightbulb went off in my head. My neighbor has a friend hatching chicks for her coop (assuming it ever gets done. LOL) So I called the neighbor and negotiated a trade of a dozen of my bantam eggs for 4 fertile eggs from her friend. I only wanted 2, but friend said that only 50% hatch rate and you can't have a lone chick. SURE you can when you coop if totally full and you are trying to take over the other 4 feet of the building for the ones still in the house. But she is sending me 4 eggs tonight. So the waiting begins. I'm not going to candle, unless I just can't stand the suspense. In 21-23 days I'll know if they were good eggs or bad eggs. And hopefully my broody girl will get out of the nest and parade her chicks around. (It's Henny Penny who is broody, so Chicken Little spends a lot of time in the coop trying to coax her outside. Poor Chicken Little.)

So I am not sure what kind of eggs I am getting, nor do I care. Maybe I'll get something that lays a real sized egg...I mean stranger things HAVE happened in my life.

In Columbia County NY, near the Mass border. Love this site!

I have a friend looking to give away ...to a good home, no freezer camp, A 1 year old NH Red Rooster. It is her 9 year old sons, and Ideally, he would like to be able to "borrow" him back for the Columbia County Fair.

PM me if you are interested!

if that doesn't come thru, I'm 30 miles south of you, right near Chatham, and have fertile Sumatra eggs. Not a lot bigger than Bantam eggs.....

Thank you to everyone that offered eggs. BYC People are the BEST!!! Now y'all have me hoping I have a couple more hens go broody. I hear it's contagious.

I got 4 LF eggs....unknown breed...but if any of them are girls I will actually have eggs big enough to crack directly into the cake mix. (right now I have to crack the bitty ones into a measuring cup until I have the right amount of egg for the reciepe. ) They were brown. And large to extra large in size. I would love to have chickens that laid eggs like that.

I put them under her at dusk....she just spread her wing larger to fit them under her. And yes, I took the golf ball out first. It was really warm. Might have been ready to hatch.

I don't have an incubator, so if she stops being broody before they hatch they are done for. I'm glad I traded for them instead of spending cash money. I am soooo far over my chicken buying budget as it is...another 5 bucks might have caused a mutiny in my home. (I am still fighting the battle for the last 4 feet of the building we put up for my coop. Have to wait to find out gender of my Ameruacanas before I really push for it.)
