Our 2 hens went broody at the same time (andalusion and cochin bantam). They insisted on sharing a box.

I had a buff orp and a bantam buff brahma do the the same thing this spring. They shared a box and hatched 2 chicks. It was really cute.

My chickens decided to come visit at the back door this morning. Went into the laundry room and there was little boy blue at the glass door. They've never come into the entry way before. Silly chickens!

How funny, I have one too, the hen hatched ONE chick in the coop and it was funny to watch her hop up the plank to the coop and try to get the chick to follow her! It figured it out after about a week (the hen stayed down in the pen with it) I said it was on its own, since I was not firing up the brooder for a single chick!

I stuck the rest of the nest in the incubator, and like a week later had a couple, shoved those under a silkie, who then hatched more (that I had to save because they were cold) and dang if MORE eggs didn't hatch. So the key to my hatching dilema seems to be let the hens sit on the eggs and then hope nothing hatches? I have like fifteen chicks now, that I did NOT want to have to set up a brooder for, sigh.

I have three hens and two ducks sitting too, and more eggs than I know what to do with, anyone want some Ameraucana eggs?

I have A black Sumatra Roo who started doing the same at 11 weeks. The other 3 Sumatra Roo's the same age aren't crowing yet. I figure the one that is is going to be a dominant roo. I now have 12 roo's, all sumatra's. But my flock of hens is around 60....I need to count them again.....
