We're in Oneida and the feed mill Is over in Vernon.

I don't sell my eggs but have gotten rid of a lot of my "extra" chicks and chickens through CL.

I live in Vernon, but I buy my feed at Louis Gale, in Bouckville. Their prices are lower so its worth the 15 minute drive down to Rt 20. I try & go once a month. I just bought 20% layer mash for $22.50 per 100 lbs. With all the chickens I have, I can't afford $15 or $16 per 50 lbs of a name brand. And I too believe, that the mash that they offer is fresher, and I am supporting local farmers. Who knows how old the Purina & other feeds are by the time they get to the store. Grains lose their nutrition the moment they are ground, and continue to lose it as they age. If you figure the major feed companies first ground the grains, cook them, then have to add the vitamins & nutrients that are lost in the cooking to make up for that loss, it will be more expensive and the feed is less nutritional. And who needs "chicken by products" in the feed ? eeuuuwwww:tongue

Where is this? I'd be willing to drive to get cheap feed, especially since I work in albany. I don't think there's ANYTHING out my way.

Arnold Feed & Grain Incorporated
(518) 843-3436
371 Swart Hill Rd, Amsterdam, NY 12010

Give them a call, they are really nice and I have had no problems with the feed at all.

We buy from Richardsons feeds in Vernon Center, $9.50 for 50#. I am trying to work out a deal with another mill to get 500# at a time at a discount. New guy I work with has chickens and knows someone at the mill. I hope it works out because the cost of feed is killing me.

What percentage protein do you get? My Marans need the 20% so its more. 16 % does't cut it for my birds. But, if you find it cheaper, let me know....

Sue, this is also where we get our feed and I believe we also get the 100 lb mash. It's in the white sack right?

It is awfully dusty, that's the only downside but we can feed it to our chickens, duck, and pigs. And no, I didn't. I found another email I was looking for in my spam folder so I think it sent them there. Want to re-send them and I'll keep my eyes open?
