It's great here - all us cool NY'ers. Ok well some are cool, my chickens think I'm cool. They run to me whenever they see me. Or, maybe it's the treats.

ha ha... You would think that with chickens knowing who feeds and loves on them would actually turn tricks ... I wonder if we can teach a chicken to shake or give high three ?

My DD holds a treat waist high and the hens will jump to grab it.

I USE A BRINSEA OCTOGON 20 WITH AUTO TURN (sorry caps on)

I have the Genesis 1588. Works fine for me.

VMDANIEL -- It seems they molt when they feel like it. I wouldn't worry they have time to "recoat". I would increase their protein levels as much as you can. Do not supply extra lighting either. This will give them time to rest and reduce egg production. Energy will be diverted to making feathers.

Hope everyone is fine,

rancher

they have stopped laying and I have been giving them salmon leftovers from my daughter"s fiancée (he works at a restaurant where he does the filleting!) I will give them some extra. I am sure they won't mind! Thanks for the advice.

You are aware that the fish can taint the taste of the eggs right? Not if you feed just a little but to much can affect the egg taste. I feed mine sausage cuz then the eggs taste like eggs and sausage and I don't have to cook both.

Just kidding.

You are way too funny! Yes, I have heard that to much fish can make eggs fishy.....but if they are not laying should it matter?

Thanks for the replies on the incubator question. I was leaning toward the Brinsea and that's what I will start saving for.

Still working on the high security chicken run. We have at least two packs of coyotes close by and I don't want to take any chances.
