NY chicken lover!!!!

Saved my eggs for a month to have enough for breakfast this morning. All dark brown and green eggs.

Then my rooster sings the egg song (seems he has to let me know what his girls are doing) and when I go in the coop one of the D'uccles had laid an egg. First Bantie egg in over 2 months. Glad to have them back in production, cuz the neighbor girls LOVE their small eggs fried for breakfast.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

I gave a big box of tiny pullet eggs to my coworker, probably 5 dozen. She was thrilled to have all those eeny eggs!

Went to the Saratoga Farmers market today. Those peeps are asking for $4/dozen, $3.50 for pullet eggs. Yowsa.

Given how few hens are actually laying that isn't a bad price. But I wouldn't pay it....

Is it spring yet? I am soooo cold, can't keep the house above 66....and the wood stove is in the same room with the thermostat....time to add more paper to get that wood roaring.

Nor I.. I still am getting 18-20/day so I am still offering them for $2.50 at work.

You'd be freezing at my house, I keep it at 60 MAX and that's when I'm hanging out in that room for a while. Rest of the house is set at 55.

We keep a small space heater in the computer room and wear a lot of jackets. Oil heat is just sooo expensive!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

So right now we are getting over ten eggs a day. Some are dark brown, some are chocolate brown, some are creme, one is dusty rose colored and one is pinkish. Some of the chocolate brown ones and cream ones are speckled. What a fun egg basket!

We are far from ready for Christmas, but in another way we are ready because we are all together. Made temprance tavern white chili today....yum. Eggnog will be made later from a recepie from this forum. Thanks again everyone for your recepies...it's so much fun and the whole family ends up gathering round when a new recepie is made.

*just kidding about the rolled eyes*

It's been a good and adventurous chicken year with some heartbreak and much happiness. The kids still brave the cold to help take care of the birds and they love thier antics. Somehow, I find myself planning more chickens for next year....EE's, jahourns, meaties.....

Looking forward to getting together with Muggsamee for seed exchange.

Almost time for the jolly fat one to make an appearance, everyone is downstairs watching movies and playing video games...the movie watchers will undoubtedly fall asleep there.

Makes the stocking stuffing a bit difficult. Nothing yet from my Christmas Day bator...all shipped eggs except for a few barnyard mutts I threw in to fill it up at first. I set them at midnight hoping to wake up Christmas morning to some little peepers

Merry Christmas to one and all.

Just got back from Christmas at In-laws, the girls are asleep so it is easier to get everything ready for tomarrow morn. Every year we are getting more chicken stuff. In-laws even got us this really neat sign. Not sure where we are going to put it so I will need to finish it to match but I really like it.
