NY chicken lover!!!!

Rancher--I hope my dh doesnt read that about the plucker because he would build one for the chickens and the deer and anything else he could get. Bear might be a bit difficult like your cow. You crack me up!

Ginny--not planning on it yet but come later in the spring I could. Things are changing at work so I might be getting more time off. Not that I want it but what can I do. I will let you know.

Cass--I have aol. stinks but what can I do. I will just have to log on here every night. Thanks for the info though.

Got 2 more eggs from the girls so thats 5 in 4 days. Things are looking up! Still only 1 silkie egg but heck, at least i finally got one! Supposed to snow tonight. I am hoping it isnt much as my new snow tires are still in the trunk of the car! Guess i will have to put them on. Oh well. Stay warm

Amy, If you are interested I will be sure to keep extras in the milk!

I should have Chantecler, Australorp and D'Uccle chicks for sale around March 1st. I will be candling the eggs next week and can let you know how many are developing if you want.

FYI , from Nifty Chicken and the "Help I am no longer getting updates" thread:

"Ok, we're hoping this will be fixed on Tuesday!! It's amazing how tricky this stuff is to find and fix, but I think we've got it!

In a nutshell, here is the situation: Immediate subscription updates are designed, by default, not to deluge you with an unlimited number of emails. The default behavior is to pause a subscription after one email has been sent. When you next visit the site, we unpause that subscription and it resumes sending you notifications. This puts some limits in place to prevent a user from being overwhelmed by 100s of emails overnight. However, our last release (two weeks ago) altered this behavior unexpectedly. We failed to resume notifications when a suer visited the site. The only way to resume sending was to log out/in, which would kickstart notifications back to life. Most users rarely log out, so a lot of folks were missing some emails they expected to receive. We've fixed this now. Anytime you hit a page on the site it should "wake up" any paused subscriptions you have, and you'll resume receiving email.

Thanks for everybody's patience and help as we found ways to duplicate, isolate, and fix this problem!"

Let's all cross our fingers that they fix it for good this time

I want some. Let me know what you have left over. LOL. No, really, I want 4 straight run D'uccles

HEY!!! I got blue eggs today. THREE OF THEM, from 2 hens. LOL Whatcha think I didn't check very carefully yesterday?

I am up to 4 eggs from 11 hens. Not good, but better than NONE a few weeks ago.

And no updates again. Cripes. I thought this "upgrade" was supposed to be a good thing. But when has any upgrade ever been a good thing when it comes to technology?

I am with you on the updates...here I was thinking no one is on the thread! I don't like that I don't get the updates! I will try the login in...login out...

I have light/coronation Sussex hatching now and will continue for awhile..also will have hatching eggs...I have 5 hens and I get 5 eggs a day! They have been laying since Sept and the eggs are large! The cockerals were around 8 to 10 lbs at 8 mos. old..beautiful dual purpose breed!

That should work unless you are using an AOL email addy.....AOL has BYC blocked for some reason. Techs are working on problem. IF you use AOL and have another email address, change your email address on BYC and that should fix the problem (after you log out and back in with new email in place, that is)

Well, after saving eggs since Feb 1st (7 days) and having 7 Porcelain D'Uccle pullets, I got 2 eggs!

I did get 9 Mille Fleur D'Uccle eggs in there too though if you are interested in those if they hatch.

Today is day 8. Candled 7 more with one clear. I only pull the definitely clear. Others look ok but at day 8 who can tell? If I see a dark area then I figure it's ok. three more rows to go. The two clears were my Del eggs. I'm really hoping for the Columbian Rock eggs to hatch. I'm wondering if they're from young girls as they are smaller than my Del eggs.

Opened up at 7:30, and there were already three eggs in the Orp coop. Dumb Dora was on the nest again. I'm waiting til the cold spell moves to put Frenchy and Buckwheat back in the coop and move Dora to the crate and see if she still wants to sit on eggs.

I had someone contact me about the Lav roo, but they perhaps decided not to take him. You know folks it never hurts to make an offer in these matters. If I decide to build the chicken/deer./cow/goat/sheep plucker thing, I won't be selling or giving away roos. Nor Del hens once I get them to a fatter line.

Ya know, I was just thinking. If I did a Tim the tool man Taylor thing to my shop vac, I could just stick the end of the hose into the carcass and "suck" those innards right out of that baby. That's the part that is really holding me back. Heck I can't even watch CSI without closing my eyes.

How many here are doing their own birds? What do you do with the innards? I'd hate to attract vermin to the place.
