NY chicken lover!!!!

Any one want to buy a black Ameraucana roo....It's one of Jean's (pips & peeps) roos. He's my third roo and just isn't needed in my coop. I would like to get the money I have invested in him, not counting food for a year, which would be $10....but would seriously consider trades for chicks or 2 laying hens (cuz you can't just add one to a flock) This roo has the blue egg gene, so you can make your own blue egg layers, Olive Eggers and great Ameracana chicks (if you have the Am Hens).

I am very pleased with his hatch mate's disposition as second in command and think this guy would be a wonderful addition to anyone's flock (if they wanted blue eggs from his offspring).

PM me if interested. I'll meet you half way if the drive to Albany area is prohibitive

Edited to fix a stupid mistake that made me sound dumb.

Newly joined from Ballston Spa, NY. near Saratoga Springs-north of Albany. Looking for local eggs to use for hatching in classroom. A hen lover from Gansevoort contacted me. Is there anybody else near me with fertile eggs for sale? Really hate to mail order. Prefer to pick up. Thanks! K.....

On the weekends DD and I go outside in the morning, in our "jammies" to let the birds out. We have a rental house on the way to the coop. Our tenant comes out sometimes to chat, in her jammies too! Fun!

I just can't keep up can I?

Well you don't think I get dressed and THEN go out and let the girls out do you? I go out in my pj's bathrobe and boots. Jacket and hat. My bathrobe goes to my ankles. I even snow blow in it. What's more I live across from the school. No need to worry bout being bothered. No one bothers the crazies.

Sometimes when I'm out there I sing to the Lord too. They're probably afraid of fire and brimstone.

You know the poem "When I am old I shall wear purple". They don't have one for old men.

In the summer I have my horses on night turn out. I always check the weather for thunderstorms. Once or twice a year I will wake up with far off(or up close thunder). I will jump out of bed, run across the road, grab a pair of horses, get them in the barn and run and get the other one. Sometimes if the storm is bad they can't even hear me yelling for them and I have to search for them. Anyway, the pj's that I am in get really, really wet. My hair gets really, really wet. Rain water soft though

Morning all! I too run out in my nightgown and a jacket to let everyone out in the mornings. I try to do it quick as I am a rather large woman, my nightgowns arent always below my knees and while the cheeps dont care what I look like, I dont want to scare the hell out my neighbors! I dont sing to the Lord (as Rancher does) but I am praying to Him that nobody sees anything that might scar them for life. LOL.

So are there any good hatcheries out there?

Most of us are a bit silly when it comes to our animals. Picture this - an aerial view of New York with people here and there in their pj's out and about tending their furry, feathered friends.

Heh, I am outside in my PJ's every morning. Kinda. I don't have overalls, so when I am working I take my shower, get into my work clothes, then put on pj's OR sweats (whatever is available) on over my work clothes to go check on the chickens before work. So I am running around outside in the dark in my festive flannel with my rubber chicken boots on but fully dressed underneath. I think only the garbage man has probably seen me, but you never know. :p

ETA: Looks like one of my rumpless (but not tufted!) real araucana chicks is going to be a boy, plus I have a boy chick that's either a tailed araucana or an easter egger. Both came out of blue eggs. I MAY keep the rumpless boy, but if anyone is really really interested let me know. I am waiting to see how many boys I have from my americauna/EE/NN hatch before I rehome all the extras at once.

I just had to run out 'cause my Amerucana was screaming (flip-flops &t-shirt). My neighbors dog was up against the fence. I have to be careful they don't "bother" anyone. One call to the town of Islip and I have people breathing down my neck Even though I am 100% street legal. I walk around in flip-flops all winter long people do think I'm nuts.

When I was on second shift I did all chores at the start of the day in my jammies. I have a couple old flannel coats and tall boots that I wear down to the barn. Then I would shower and get ready for work.

queenchick- It drives me nuts that people can be so judgemental when they have no knowledge about something and it is none of their business.

happyhensny- I know this an older topic but what was the name of the wormer you got from TSC (eprinex?) and do have dosage for cats, dogs, and birds? I didn't want to go hunting for it in past pages. Thanks
