NY chicken lover!!!!

I had to put up $1000. worth of fencing so people would stop pulling over into my driveway to find out what i had in my back yard.
When I was on second shift I did all chores at the start of the day in my jammies. I have a couple old flannel coats and tall boots that I wear down to the barn. Then I would shower and get ready for work.

queenchick- It drives me nuts that people can be so judgemental when they have no knowledge about something and it is none of their business.

happyhensny- I know this an older topic but what was the name of the wormer you got from TSC (eprinex?) and do have dosage for cats, dogs, and birds? I didn't want to go hunting for it in past pages. Thanks

I know how it is. DH and I had to run power to our barn and buy a new high power electric fencer for our horses last spring. To prevent the neighbors from calling the police and claiming we didn't take proper care of them. It's ironic that the same neighbor that did that and treated my parents so awful had his own horse die of triple E at the end of summer. My horses are vaccinated (up to date) and are healthy.

I've decided to cancel my hatchery order and go in for the easter hatch. Hatching is more fun - hopefully some of the usuals will take some of my extra boys? Pretty please? LOL.

Anyways, looking for maybe a dozen eggs around march 16th that I can pick up from glens falls to albany. Will pay for them or swap you with some of my fancy designer mutt eggs (beware will most likely hatch out a few NN chicks! =). Would like colored egg layers most, but any large fowl is OK. No silkies, bantams, ducks and definitely no more guineas!!!! .

I've been trying to add pics to my profile site and am having an awful time of it. The pics come up huge and not where I left the cursor. Then when I try to rearrange it I get kicked off. Very frustrating!

I've got it saved. I use an eye dropper and do it at night in the dark with a head lamp on. Doesn't scare them off the roost and I can just stick the eye dropper under their feathers. Piece of cake.

I've placed an order with P. Harter for Del chicks that won't be ready til the end of April. That will most likely be my last order of chicks. I intend to hatch my own from now on. Hatchery birds are just to iffy. Had a friend order GC's and Lord have mercy they wouldn't lay. I talked to him after church last night. Now he's into goats. Good garden o' peas!

Sorry I have no eggs right now. Between my hatching and customers I can't keep up. I still owe someone on here eggs that I promised to send. I'm saving for that now and then another incubator full for me. I may skip mine though. I've got 27 in there now. However I do need to hatch more EE's though. Colored eggs are colored eggs to me. No matter who laid them, IMO.

Lots of building going to be going on here this spring and summer. Help me Jesus.

Rancher - thanks for providing the info on the wormer. Had to bring DD to choir practice today at SUNY Albany. She loves it. First concert in March. DH and I are going out back to cut trees, haul branches and brush to make room for the goat yard. Right now they are by the road and many people love to see them as they drive by I really want them out back by the rest of the animals.

"You might be a redneck if you have more outbuildings than house" Yup, definitely us.

It is getting that way. Lord give me grace.

I have Buff Orps; EEs, RIRs, BA, and BRs with a NHRed roo; and Lt Brahmas with a Cochin roo and a Cochin x Lt Brahma roo. We are now up to about 16-18 eggs a day.

I am also at a point where I can take roos, as long as they are fully feathered. If you still have any from the NYD hatch, they would fit nicely with mine. If you are thinking about the roos from the Easter hatch, I am planning to hatch only quail then, so should have plenty of roo space.

Sounds great! I gave away some of the NYD hatch roos since I needed the room, but there's a few more popping up that I missed. At least two so far.

I hate to give away my rumpy araucana to a freezer camp unless he's mean, so I might have to try and keep him and send away one of my others. I'll have a bunch from the valentine's day hatch in about 4+ weeks if you are able? Once they are feathered?

And you're on for the NYD hatch roos! Save a spot for me. :)
