NY chicken lover!!!!

masanaccord: Ordered from Murray McMurray hatchery last year and still have 24 out of the 26 we recieved (buy 25, get one free). We bought all sexed pullets and generally average 18 eggs per day out of the 26 birds we have (two are not hatchery and are in another coop). They have a chick guarentee that they post online. The post office thought it was cool to have the birds coming and were watching for them for me. We received the day olds in June and started getting eggs the end of october.

Adam Hotel: Cool pics of the barn. Interested to know how your leghorn x ameraucana cross work out. I am in the Utica area.

Rancher: I love good garden o peas and just got some seed from guerneys! Looking forward to planting season. We are putting in some cherry trees this year and hopefully some black current bushes. The bushes are for a natural fenceline that also is etible.

It was snowing today and it looked like we were living in a snowglobe for about an hour. So pretty!

Have a good night.

Hi All, long time, no talk. I follow the thread quite frequently but never have time to post. I have been busy working and tending to the crew.

Hatching around here has started pretty early this year. I hatched 3 silkie chicks a few weeks ago, 1 call duckling last week and 3 Cochins a couple of days ago. Also have more call eggs in the 'bator.

Hoping to add some colored layers to the flock this year. Need some green/blue layers and some more chocolates, possibly some olive eggers?

Maybe when my mom is in Florida next week I will go a little crazy!
Also, thinking about ordering an EcoGlow soon. A hatchery order also crossed my mind..

When I went out to let the girls out (and boys) this morning I noticed that my witch hazel is blooming, and there were two Robins in the yard. BRING ON THE SPRING!!!!!

Hen--if we were in the same pharmacy the customers wouldnt know what to do! lol Either they would love us and be in all the time or they would be running for any other pharmacy but ours! hehe "Never mess with the person who dispenses your happy pills."

Argh--everyone is hatching! This is killing me. DH managed to drop the giant oak tree by himself today while our dd videotaped it. The house, chicken coop and the footings for the new coop are all safe. He made it in one piece as well. Now for all the cutting and splitting. Came home from work to work outside picking up all the little branches and getting them out of the way. Let everyone out to freerange. I thought their crops were going to explode they were so full!

Not only do we have to build the big coop but I also have to build a little one for another breeding quad of silkies. Dh is not happy about that as that will be 2 big coops and 2 small coops on our property. I say the more the merrier! Found a hatchery in PA that sells chicks at a decent price and the shipping is good as well. Now I just need to locate a breeder for some silkie eggs.

Good luck with your hatches and your building projects everyone.

If both you Amy's were in the same pharmacy I could get my eprinex and eggs at the same time!

Ok! 1 chick is out and dry. I don't want to put it in the brooder by herself. (think positive....they are all girls!!!) There are several others pipping. What was I thinking adding on at work for today? I want to stay home and watch. DH is home and can handle it. SSOO exciting!!! Note to self. Always plan a hatch when I can be around!!!!!!!!
