I am ready for another one cause the first one was sooooo good.

I am done with babies for now. I wish my broody silkies would be done sitting as well. I almost tripped over one of their broody gifts tonight. Holy Hannah, it was almost as big as my labs and smelled much worse!

For such little girls, they can certainly leave big things behind!

Dh is almost done with the permanent run. Just have to hang the other gate and finish covering the top with netting. I will post pics. Oh yeah, he "landscaped" the rocks inside for them. But they arent pets. So he says. As he is finding and bringing them grasshoppers to eat. Yup, not pets.

Love all the baby pics from everyone. At least I can enjoy them vicariously. Long week this week at work. Keep the pics coming. Kamir, I love this cooler weather cause I am not melting in it!

My ex Mother in law was so ugly as a kid she had to trick or treat by phone.

I'm stealing this.

I have to bring a camera out to the coop tonight. Not only are my two BLRW broodies with their huge chicks sleeping in nest boxes, Mrs. Beasley the Orp is acting broody again and bedding down in another box (nope - not this time). Evidently her four chicks, who are almost point-of-lay, have noticed this. When I go down there at night, those four are all hanging around the box their mama is in, apparently hoping that she'll quite literally take them back under her wings. As I'm a meanie, I turf them all out, including Mrs. B, and set them up on the roosts where they belong. The BLRWs are going to be booted shortly as well, as it's just getting silly to see them both crammed in there with three monster chicks apiece.

Because they are babies!

I want to get some too but need to find some for a small price.
I'll have to check out the thread, I checked out some prices and I suggested that maybe we hatch some next year. It would be a good project for DH.

How is everyone's egg production with the cooler weather?

I get from 5-8 eggs daily for the last 2 months. 2 days ago 10, yesterday 13. Even my broody with 3 week old chicks dropped an egg yesterday.

Hope that everyone has a good weekend!

I rehomed a lot of my layers, so I am WAY down on eggs right now. Lots of eggs from the pullet coop, tho - generally 10-12 or so, which isn't bad for 15 hens/three broody. My big coop is only giving me 3-4 eggs a day, but I went through it in my head yesterday and it's not too bad. there are 26 birds in that coop, three are roosters, four are broody and another four are definitely molting. Out of the remaining chickens, only four are of laying age - so 3-4 eggs is great!

Now when the 15-18 week olds in there start laying I'll be drowning again. I think I may rehome more hens or pullets if the feed prices keep going up. =(
