I was wondering about sharpies. I've often had a sharpie in hand and had to put it down and look for something else. I was thinking about doing a test hatch, marking half of them and see if there was any difference. Any excuse to hatch some eggs, right?

I have used them for a LONG time and have 100% hatches OFTEN and even have 95% on shipped eggs OFTEN with sharpies... it evaporates too quick to go into the egg much if at all.

So, here's a question for the random post contest....
This will be my second attempt at hatching. The first one was an unqualified disaster. 8( No chicks lived at all. I think I know what I did..the humidity was too high.

I started the hatch at around noon on the 11th. So that makes today day 3 and now about 78 hours. The eggs were very fresh. A BYC'er actually lifted a hen to grab one for me. 8)

What should my eggs look like today, if I were to candle them...ahem...not that I *did* or anything.....

There are so many posts and threads that I likely have missed the one for the obsessive newbies like me.

Thanks!
Leslie

I wait till day 7 much easier to see what is going on... sit on your hands if you can.
