O Brother Where Art Thou

Then he asks about a part for the car. The reply: "I can order it for you. It will be here in about two weeks."

"Well, isn't this place a geographical oddity. It's two weeks from everywhere."


It is funny to me that Oh Brother, Where Art Thou is based on Homer's Odyssey, which was written about 3,000 years ago. Odysseus spent 10 years after the Trojan war overcoming obstacles and trying to get home to his wife and son. In the movie, I think they spend about a week overcoming "obstackles" to get to Ulysses Everett McGill's home and save his marriage. (By the way, Ulysses is the Roman name for Odysseus.)


I like when they pick up the black guitarist and he says he waited at the crossroads to sell his soul to the Devil so he could play the guitar real good. "Son, you sold your everlasting soul for that?"

"Well, I wasn't doing anything with it."

My kids and I love that movie, especially my 11 year old. He will watch it anytime!

"He's a suitor, he's bona fide." We say that a lot when we are talking about someone.
