I talked to the city office manager today. The city ordinance #95-6-8 allows 30 chickens per acre. There is a setback of 15 feet from adjoining properties. Other than that there are no regulations other than noise nuisance which applies to everything anyway.
Sounds good to me! :)
There are different rules for other animals including ducks and turkeys. You are allowed 1 animal unit per acre. Different animals are different points. Turkeys and geese are just under 16 per acre.
For larger animals it is 1 unit for cows and horses. The babies dont count as a unit till they are no longer using nursing as their food. Once their food is supplimented they are counted as a unit.
Any way all the normal farm animals are assigned a point fraction of 1 to determine how many you can have.
