I've recently been introduced to the idea of feeding whole oats, barley, wheat etc...

I had a APA judge tell me that he can tell the difference between a bird thats fed oats, and a bird thats only fed pellets, just by picking them up. I've also been told by others that whole oats and grains with a little linseed oil makes a really good diet for any bird.

If you feed oats and other grains, whats your recipe and how do you mix it?

Currently I am only feeding Layena pellets, but I am working on mixing my own feed with grains.

This is one of my maintenance recipes, also for growing fowl on free range:

3 parts fermented oats, 44
2 parts whole corn, 15
1 part wheat, 10.8
1 part whole dry oats, 11
1 part Bird Seed with bos, millet, safflower, 16
2 parts 20% pellet, 40

13.6%

What brand of bird seed do you use? also bos?
