New chicken mom here. Brought home four 5-week old silkies yesterday. The breeder/farm said its impossible to accurately sex them yet. Of course, a little bit of internet research is a dangerous thing and now I’m obsessively watching their behavior. Here’s a link to video - would love to hear any and all opinions!

They’re adorable :love
I only have one Silkie.
I was convinced it was female.
He’s 5.5 months old now
It truly is impossible to tell.
I realized with the help of other BYCs that he was a cockerel at about 4.5 months I think?
He developed slower than my bantam Cochin and my large fowl chicks he was raised with.
He started getting a bigger comb and wattles and what they call “steamers” coming out of his head.
He’s been a great ambassador of the breed for me because I want to get more now.
I will say he was a very bold chick and was always on the move! He was hardly still most of the day it seemed.
He also would chest bump with the other chicks a lot but mostly the other bantam although I know female chicks do this behavior too.

I would say to just tuck your guesses away for about three months and then post photos on this same forum and see what they tell you.
Until then...enjoy them because Silkies are awesome!
By the way...a Silkie cockerel crowing is the cutest thing ever!
Here’s a photo of my boy Silkie (his name). He’s a partridge.
