EB was taking a nap, minding his own business, when these three girls came up and started harassing him. They like to sneak up behind him and peck his tail. I have no idea what mix of breed they are - just that they were hatched out of some EE/OE eggs I bought.

Put together two big kiddie pools to make a brooder within a matter of minutes for the newest batch of chicks. Cheap, quick, and easy to move, clean and disinfect. And the babies have room to grow. The top pool is held in place over the bottom pool by 4 small screws which can be removed in just seconds. The bottom of the top pool has been cut out and a screen added to provide ventilation whilst keeping chicks/keets/poults from jumping out as the get bigger.

Piper is setting on eight Narragansett turkey eggs, due to hatch May 6th. I moved her and her adopted eggs into a secure cage (a spare XL indoor bunny / guinea pig cage) in a corner of the barn so the other girls won't be harassing her by trying to lay in her nest or attempting to steal her eggs. Not that they would have much luck doing so. Piper is one of three little Silkie/Cochin Bantam crosses I keep, as they are such good little mommas, being fiercely protective of their eggs and their chicks.
