Hi Lurky,
Thanks for the complimentary words but this was all luck. A member posted
she had one for sale and I snagged it. I had never seen one but several members
here, including Silkiechicken & HinkJC reccomended Brinseas, even over the Rcom.
Imagine my happiness when I opened the box and saw this thing.
I have 3 Little Giants, which are great as starter bators, but really require patience
and attention to keep stable. Plus when you add up the bator, fan kit, turner, flukers,
wiggler, etc they end up costing over $150 each. I could have just bought the
RCom 20 for a few dollars more. I'm keeping one as a backup bator, in case my
Brinsea
breaks, and as a hatcher. I pushed my other 2 LG's on 2 different friends trying to
drive them into hatchaholism.
I just looked at the
Brinsea site again. It looks like they have a really nice new Oct20
coming out but it isn't cheap.
Brinsea has good web specials from time to time. If you
aren't in a rush you'll find a new one on special or may find a used one.
The new Hovabators hold temp well and don't cost too much. My reccomendation
to anyone without a bator is to start with a styro. Even if you just do a $40 still air
model and try a dozen eggs.
