October Hatch-A-Long

One of my chicks passed away during the night, the little guy on left (from a CCL egg):

My little rosecomb bantam seems to have splayed legs, so I'm going to have to look that up. I don't know if he is eating and drinking, but he is loudly peeping, so maybe he is? This is the morning of Day 3 for him.

Out of 18 eggs, 11 have moving chicks

A couple of the eggs are difficult to see in. I think I see movement in a couple of those but not sure so not counting them in the moving chicks pile yet!

ETA
we are on day 10

Not sure how I did it but I missed an egg in the total count.

I have 19 eggs total with 15 still moving around and growing!

This time around my temp is stable except for one day it got up to 75 after being in the low 60's for days. The continuing problem I am having is that the temp when I go to bed is 100 but when I get up in the morning it is at 96-98. The chicks are still moving around and getting bigger but I'm not sure how it is going to effect them in the long run or what it will do to my hatch date.

ETA
for clarification the outside temp was 75 so my incubator temp went up to 102 because it was used to the low 60's temp.

Before I got a good thermostat my temp used to drop overnight so I used to put a towel over it, but it would still drop a degree or 2. I wouldn't worry too much... my eggs still hatched on time.

My duck eggs look like they are trying to pip internally or nearly have! I put them next to each other in the nest so they could encourage each other. Mama must be getting ready to sit for awhile because she was up off the nest, flew out of the coop and was looking for food and took a long bath. So crazy excited!!!!

Yay!! I hope she gets to have a couple!! Good luck! So far mine are doing great :) Big difference in eggs from close by instead of shipped eggs! The end result is what I want to see though! I have a second bator I borrowed from my father n law!! I can get into big trouble this way though

. I plan to just hatch in one and incubate with turner in the other. I'm also trying new this hatch with keeping my temp at 99/100. I will also only get humidity at lock down to 50. Eventually maybe I will figure it out! lol My humidity though with no water has been at 30 this time since we had soooo much rain. Good luck with hatching and can't wait to see babies!!!
You could get wild and fill them both up! Maybe in the Spring?? I am building my cabinet incubator so that is a bit out of control... it is going to have 4 trays that can fit 30 eggs! I am sure I won't be hatching that many though but I want to have enough room for sure!!

Aren't local eggs the bomb?! So much easier! I am glad yours are doing so well!

May I join? I have 11 trader joes eggs on day 4. 9 of 11 are showing clear veining (pics below). I'm thrilled! I am using a cooler with a light bulb that's maintaining a 100.2-101 temp and 30-35% humidity. Does that sound ok? I set another 20 farmers market eggs today as well! I'll set some "nicer" eggs over the weekend after my incuview arrives Friday. I feel an addiction coming on! Unfortunately we can't keep any where we are at past 3-4 weeks :( but hatching and raising them that long will do for now!
