October Hatch-A-Long

I was about to go to bed, checked on eggs. and had one that was almost completely zipped! 10 minutes later we have a white leghon/speckled sussex chick!! Last two hatches have been bantam silkies, almost forgot how big standard chicks are Here are the two Silkies I hatched out yesterday, now that the splash is dried And don't worry, thats just washable marker on the chicks..marked on white silkie before I realized what other was so I could tell them apart..well it rubbed onto the splash as well. ha! And here is our leghorn mix that just hatched. Today is only day 18!

Oh those silkies are so cute and cuddly looking! Little puffballs! I love the new little guys expression. He looks rather determined! Yea, I said he, just what came to mind with the attitude look

I love these silkies. I had one hatch out earlier but died after a week. She was soo scared of everything, would scream if you would hold her. She didnt have a right eye. Also had cross beak. These ones come runnign to me as soon as I come over to the brooder. I make sure I always stop by and tal to them everytime I walk by the brooder so they are friendly when they get older. Theey will fall asleep in my hand like nothing, its crazy!

The leghorn I hope its not a boy! I am debating on trying to vent sex or not, I am scared I might hurt him/her! We lost a hen and am hoping to replace her with one from this hatch.

Such adorable babies!! It is just so amazing to me every time, that these little creatures hatch out of eggs... love those little faces! The wait is killing me today!

just had a second baby hatch! we have 1 more that is externally piped but not zipped yet. I have 3 more that haven't piped yet. Then 7 of a friends eggs who are due to hatch Monday, of course these little guys weren't due until sunday so who knows!
