How's the chick doing?

I put 12 on lockdown tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed for the chickies

So that would make tomorrow hatch day??

I locked them down on day 17, because some folks on here say silkies tend to hatch early. Hatch day should be Friday

Today is day 16. I went ahead and took them out of the turners as it will be a busy wkend... ill up the humidity as soon as I see a pip...

They all looked pretty darn full, and I anticipate an early hatch, just like last time...

If that happens again I'll have to adjust temp next yr...if () I hatch again lol

So far, I have 5 chicks, 6 have pipped and one that hasn't pipped yet.
The 4 chicks from my last hatch are doing great. So stinking cute

I haven't been on here a whole lot in the last month, it was crazy hectic at our house. I'm watching our first chicks hatch right now!
I took some eggs from my in-laws chickens to do our first attempt at hatching, none of my chickens have started laying yet and it will likely be spring before they start.
I got 7 eggs that I wanted to hatch. 3 Easter egger mint green eggs and 4 white eggs from the leghorns. There's 2 roosters in their flock, so the dads could be an Easter egger or a barn yard mix (something barred with lots of colors).
Yesterday was day 21 and before I went to bed I had 3 pips. This morning I have 4 bouncing baby chicks, one is zipped and trying to get out, the last green egg has pipped while I sat here watching them, but no movement from the last leghorn egg.

Now we have 9 chicks, 2 pipped eggs and the last egg.

I had to help the first egg to pip. She missed the air sac and pipped right below it.
After 24 hours the membrane that was exposed had turned brown and I could see in the egg with a strong flashlight without opening the bator. There was a lot of space where the air sac was and the pip was below it. I grabbed her out and peeled (more like broke it off) the membrane off her face a tiny bit, wet it with warm water and put it back! Now that I could see her chewing I knew she was still ok in the shell.
I watched that egg like a hawk! After 5 hours she stopped chewing but started moving around but not getting anywhere. After another hour I decided to help. I waited for a chick to hatch and grabbed the egg while the humidity was up and peeled the shell off where the air sac was. Sure enough the membrane was stuck to her. I re-wet it and helped as little as possible and put her back. A few minutes later she hatched. She's fluffed up and doing kung-fu kicks now.
