October Swap.......CLOSED.......

None of mine hatched, either, but the quail eggs I had in at the same time are hatching now.

I think my swap eggs were treated very very roughly in shipping, because when I opened them up, they were just scrambled. They didn't have a chance.

Aww I'm sorry...I had the same problem. And floaters too. And the ones I got were all EEs(I so want blue eggs). Well, you'll be getting more. I'll give you ample time to ready your bator...Or you may have a broody by then.

Blue eggs? I can hook you up!

I have 5 EEs who are laying like MAD, and the eggs are really blue, especially from one girl. And I just moved my blue Ameraucana girl in with my newly-unquarantined splash Ameraucana roo today, and am waiting patiently for eggs. I'd be happy to send some of either or both.

Right now the EEs are being covered by a big Orpington roo and a Marans roo, so I'm guessing that would produce green and olive egg-layers...but I think we're going to move them in with a white EE cockerel for a while.

Oh wow thats awesome!! I would def be interested in some. You are so lucky. I only have two ameraucanas. A blue and a Splash, the only two developers/survivors of a batch of 8 eggs I bought from a breeder. Can't tell the gender still though but thinking girls. They're 4 mo.s now and no Saddle or pointy thin feathers and combs are still smallish and pale to light pinkish right now and they still hold their tails straight back. Tried to get pics but they kept running behind the leanto.

What color Ameraucanas? I'm happy to share. These chickens are laying more eggs than we could possibly eat or hatch, and we haven't started selling eating eggs (yet).

I'm kind of surprised that my EE girls are outproducing my Orpingtons by about two to one! Either that, or the Orps are REALLY crafty about hiding their eggs, and the EEs lay them right where they're supposed to.

That is one thing I'm not choosy about in my little family flock is color...I have so many different colors to look at. But I do need to build my other coop on the other end of the leanto by Spring so my chickens keep their elbow room in the coops at night.

We have 2 BO's and 2 EE's and the EE's have always laid more eggs. Also, they're laying during their molt while the Orps have stopped completely right now.

I wish I could say my EEs kept laying through their molt. None of my girls are laying right now...

My quail hatched this weekend. I got 12 coturnix eggs from Catcobb, and 4 hatched out along with five bobwhites I put in exactly a week earlier. I had to help out the last two because they couldn't finish zipping (well over 24 hours in their partial zipped condition), and they seem to be doing OK other than curled toes, but if they don't straighten out by the end of the day, I'll boot 'em.

Thanks, Cat!
