Odd behavior ~ thinking sick

You could try tube feeding some water with electrolytes in case she has a gizzard blockage. A 12 inch section of aquarium air tubing can be purchsed at Walmart fish section or a pet shop. Melt the end that goes into the beak to soften the sharp edges. Inset it into the chicken’s right side back of the throat down into the crop (you will need an extra pair of hands,) avoiding the trachea or airway which is the hole at the base of the tongue. A 10 to 35 ml syringe from a feed store can be connected and fluid can be given. You can use a regular feeding tube with a catheter tip syringe as well. Here are a couple of videos to help:

@Eggcessive I missed your response yesterday ~ thank you for the info! I hope I never have to do it as it looks intimidating:oops:

Update: She is eating this morning and *seems* to be doing better so I’m cautiously optimistic
But one of her flock mates is now acting similarly as she was... I’m thinking they must have eaten something that is not good for them. :he So I’m going to walk around the yard today looking for the culprit...

Great to hear she is eating!
Did you think to check her crop first thing before she ate or drank? This would let you know if it's a crop issue or not, same with the other chicken.
Have your chickens ever been wormed? With two out of sorts I would wonder might they have worms. You could get a fecal/poop sample tested by a local vet to find out if any worms are present as there are a few types so that would tell you what to dose with.

Her crop was totally empty last night. I gave her more time in isolation and she continued to do great. Just relaxing in a normal way. So around noon, I put her back outside with the girls and after a few hours of watching her, she is behaving great, eating, walking and being curious. I'm beyond thrilled.

I might have jumped the gun on her flock mate. Keeping an eye on her but I think she is ok.

I'm not familiar with worms and have never wormed them... I could easily get a fecal sample. Would she recover the way she has if it is in fact worms?

Ok well that's great!! Hopefully she will be fine. I would keep a close eye on her though, make sure she is eating enough. An empty crop at night is not right, it should be full at night and empty in the morning! I would check both at night and in morning for the next couple days just to be sure. Chickens will try really hard to 'look' ok, so do keep an eye. Hopefully all will be fine :)

Good to hear that she is much better. Worming might be a good idea. You can try to get your vet to test some fresh droppings or use the mail in type available online. If worming, I would use a broad spectrum wormer such as Valbazen or SafeGuard Liquid Goat or the Equine Wormer, rather than one such as Wazine 17 that only gets roundworms. Here is a worm test for sale online:
