So like I've said before I'm new to owning ducks and I have a duckling. Well I've discovered something kinda odd, and I'm not sure if I should worry or not.
So I have a Pekin duckling(no more than 3weeks old) and on his tail, like at the base where the actual bone(or at least I think its a bone because its hard) and the feathers are growing out there is a little bump, it doesn't look like a cyst or anything because its really hard, and it has a couple little fuzz feathers trying to grow off it but their VERY short. It doesn't seem to bother him other than when I'm touching it, then he screams and tries with all his little might to get away from me. Is this mysterious bump normal?
I'd post a picture but I can never get him to stay still long enough to get a picture of it.

Is this bump at the base of his tail on the top or under his tail? if on the top it's his oil gland, that's how they get the oils they use to water proof their feathers. you'll see when they are preening they will take their heads and rub it at the base of their tail then rub their heads over their feathers.

It's at the top, and he does that all the time.
So that must be what it is! Thank you so much(: I was worried sick lol.

I know what your saying first time I saw one I thought it was some kind of growth LOL
Haha that's exactly what I thought it was! I was worried that when he was at the feed store in the cage with a whole bunch of older geese maybe they got a hold of him or something lol.

It does my heart good to read notes from someone as conscientious as this. And there are many on this forum.
