Hello-
I am a novice quail owner and I recently bought a breeding pair of Buttons, about 6 months old was what I was told. Over the last few days they have been sitting together strangely. They both are laying down next to each other but facing different directions (so there tails are at each others heads). The male then puts his wing over her back, it's actually pretty cute hahaha. But I have never seen this before with my coturnix. Has anyone else seen this before? Thanks for your help! I will try to post a photo when I get a chance.

I'm fairly new to button quail as well, and currently have 2 pairs together. I see the four of them do something similar to what you are describing. All four will sit with their ends touching creating a little quail wheel. I had figured it was some sort of defense position, kind of like "I'll watch your back if you watch mine."

Cheers,
V.

Thanks for the replies. I will see if I can post a decent picture to share.
