Here's a helpful video that takes you through all the steps of an egg being made. It's likely that the last step, the cuticle formation on the shell was laid down extra thick. Hopefully, this little gal will be ironing out that particular kink as her body fine tunes the process.

Counter basically means movement in the opposite direction.
