Odd egg colour

The inside of the shell will be either blue(for green egg) or white(for brown).

Yup, I removed the membrane. That wa the result.

The red girl in picture 3 resembles a Green Queen, but not 100% sure. That depends on where you sourced your birds.

Everyone’s been laying since September.


Did thet this morning. The green egg looked maybe a bit blue, more green. The brown egg looked more brown than white though. Still a mystery. Guess Mother Nature always had some surprises up her sleeve.

How about the one with the crest in the back near the blue bag?

Also has a beard.
They will occasionally have feathered feet, & 5 toes also. But can't get a toe count on her.View attachment 2992860

That’s butter, she’s a D’Uccle Cochin cross. 4 toes. Her babies were crossed with my silver laced polish. Those are the speckled ones. I have one polish/Silkie cross out there.

The one on the railing is a polish/red rock cross laying since September, and the one on the ground is a Silkie/red rock cross and 5 years old.

When I get my dual purpose package they are chosen from:

RIR, Colombian rock, red rock cross, red Sussex and brown leghorn.
