Due to the Christmas holiday we were gone today for about 12 hours. It was in the teens F today. Is this egg a frozen or is it another type of egg abnormality? When we got home we had two other eggs in the nest box and pullet egg from our quarantined newbies that was laid on the ground in a separate pen. I’m still learning as it comes to hens so please be patient and understanding with me. Thanks BYC for any and all information you can provide!

The shell was soft. It was still there, but very thin. And flexible almost. Thanks for the input. I have my girls on 17% layer feed and also have supplemental oyster shell available. Hopefully I can chalk this one up to a fluke. Never saw one like this so thought I’d ask. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I would.
I've never seen one quite like that either, in my coop or even here on BYC, so glad you posted.
Good pics too BTW...wish I could touch it.(insatiably curious)
