We have three chickens that started laying about two months ago and though their laying has been on a slightly irregular schedule , our girls have been laying in the nesting box the entire time. But for the past 2-3 days we believe our one chicken, Adrian, has been laying her eggs in the run. We don't understand why she is doing this. We thought maybe the cold is causing her to do that, but we are not sure.

If you have any ideas that would be great. THANKS!!!

( P. s. As mentioned before their laying has been on a slightly irregular schedule. We haven't been getting an egg from each of them every day and they have been laying for a while. Is this normal? Thanks!)

The egg cycle is about 25 hours, so even at maximum, you should expect more like 6 eggs a week than 7. They will lay in odd places at times, for reasons we may not be able to figure out. You could check for lice/mites or anthing else that might be bothering them in the nests, maybe change out the nest material, but in the end you may never know why she chooses to lay where she does.
