Anyone know what the brown speckles are? I think the white blotches on the other egg are calcium deposits?

The brown speckles were on shells from our Easter Egger and our Amuricana(sp?) same day which was weird. Is this maybe a stress thing or food related?

Were they on the ground?
The almost look like porous eggs......
....those speckles don't fit any of the typical pigment/bloom/calcium speckle causes

Yeah I didn't see anything in that link about the speckles. The eggs have always been in their nesting boxes. Still tasted fine.

It's #9.

Just realized the egg on left has calcium deposits....not sure about egg on right.
Lots of funky glitches can happen once in a while.......not to worry, and hard to pinpoint 'why', unless it's consistent.

Are those actually brown speckles, or are they more like dark translucent spots? I've seen something that looks similar on some of my hens' eggs, different breeds, but it's more like slightly transparent areas. Shell and egg quality aren't affected. It's strange but seems harmless.

That's what I meant by porosity......if you candle the egg is pretty apparent.
May need to google for 'candling porous chicken eggs' for example images.
They are fine to eat, but not good for hatching.
