Odd egg

Our Leghorn hens are finally laying...but we cracked one into the pan and found the oddness in this picture. Can anyone tell us what this is in the egg??

looks like what they call a meat egg. Not sure. New layers sometimes takes a while to get the kinks out of their laying system

That looks like more than a meat spot...(never heard of a 'meat egg').
Too bad you didn't find it before it got cooked,
cutting into that and taking pics might offer more clues as to what it is.

There are all sorts of odd things that can happen with eggs. Have you read this article from the Learning Center yet?

that sure is a weird egg! don't let it freak you out ! All sorts of oddities can appear in the first few eggs as the system kicks in. You may want to crack them into a separate dish first though, until things straighten out!
