odd egg

How did I get a brown egg like this from coturnix?
All the eggs are the usual white spotted. Yesterday I got this brown one. ?? What would hatch from it?

it's fine, happens sometimes the uhh.. "paint gun" doesn't work right. you may also get greenish, bluish and purplish ones.

It actually looks a LOT like a button quail egg, but if so, it would be an extremely large one for a button quail. You don't have any of those, do you?

The egg for whatever reason was held in the hens track for too long. The chick from that egg wouldn't be different than any of the other eggs

I have one hen who lays nothing but those brownish eggs. The other hens lay the usual spotted eggs. Nice to know why.

Just wait till you get your first giant egg. That will make you wonder.
