We have an almost 5 year old Rhode Island Red who has started laying elongated, thin shelled eggs after her last molt. The whites of the eggs are very watery (they cook up fine) and the whole shell membrane (I think that’s what it’s called) comes out when we crack the eggs. (See pics) What would be causing this? Defective shell glands?
She’s very healthy, eats great, very social, & very energetic.
