My Pintails NA and Bahama are doing crazy things. The Bahama (Which it could have been 2 different hens) laid 2 eggs ina box and then right behind it made a nest and laid her eggs and is setting now on it. Out in the open witha Cedar/Pine Limb over her.
Then here we are at the end of June and only my Mandarins and Wood Ducks have motled and everything else is starting to lay like crazy. We have 2 marbled teal laying (I know they don't molt), 2 ring teal, 2 greenwing teal, a mandarin and just found a NA pintail with a clutch of 8 eggs. Then to top it off my Ruddy Ducks are going back and worth from box to box laying an egg a week here and there.. They are getting pulled every 3-4 days since they are always in a different box and my chickens are gladly setting on them.
My quail stopped laying for two weeks and are now back at it. One of my Red Golden Pheasants is setting as well.
I am blaming it all on the weather!
and this year between the weather, 1 brood house (7-8 boxes) and 1 catch pen in the works.. I am abotu over babies and I am just ready to enjoy the birds again this fall!! And i hav emore chickens then I can ever begin to do anything with. My dad was suppossed to be pulling the eggs each day after I pulled the half baked ones and he never did.
