I'm holding a contest on this thread- Here's how it works.

You post your chickens' oddest laying place ever onto this thread. Once enough people have submitted their odd laying places, I will vote a top three oddest out of everyone's submissions. :)

Contest Rules:

1: Do not get mad at me if your post does not come into the top three
2: No fighting
3: There will be no re-elections

Cool idea!

Do you want pictures of the hens in action?
My top laying spots include the unused basin in our kitchen, the washing machine, our bed, an unused washing basket, our kitchen cupboard, my clothes drawer when I leave it open... And for a short time the rubbish bin. Until I put a new bin liner in, on top of the hen. Nearly killed her. Who checks their rubbish bins for hens before they replace the liner???

You do not need to put pictures up, but you can if you want to.
Sumi, those laying places are just awesome!!!

My personal favorite has to be the clothes drawer, or the kitchen cupboard. I'm just imagining opening the cabinet to get a cup or something, and seeing a buff orpinton in there.

One of my hens went broody and hatched chicks in there. We have this huge old cupboard and we only use half of it, so I don't mind. I just lined the bottom so they don't make mess an make sure the food stuff's out of chicken reach. We had one cheeky hen who'd help herself to whatever was on hand while she was in there.
I'll get you some pics tomorrow when my inside layers come in.

Can't wait to see your pictures!!

One of my hens actually figured out how to get inside of the feed bag, and made herself a nice nest....freaked me out
one night when I walked past it and the bag moved!!

Silly girl....

Like the bag you carry feed down to the coop in, or an actual empty food bag?

When ours jumped in the Williams-Sonoma bag to lay, as she did often at this time, whenever she breathed the bag would slightly open and close.

We called it "The breathing bag".

I have a basket in the garage for the cat to sleep in....being so soft, I guess my Alice thought it a great place to lay her eggs...not for sure what my kitty thought, lol

I just caught my kitchen cupboard hen in my sewing basket. Hope she didn't sit on the pin cushion...

I've had some in our golfball washer machine, under the rabbit hutch, under pine trees, in rasperry bushes, and some ontop of 6 foot hay bails!
