Odd little duckling

Hi all

I have a (supposed) fawn white Indian runner duckling that doesn't seem to be growing like a proper runner and I am not sure if it's some sort of structural issue or genetic thing so I am looking for some opinions, pics attached. He (or she) doesn't quite stand like a runner and seems to kind of bulge out on one side. He's also gotten stuck on his back a few times, seemingly unable to turn back over. Any ideas?

Have you had runner duck ducklings before?

It looks like it's standing fine to me. Are you sure the 'bulge' is not its crop full? They can tend to keep all their food to one side of their necks.

Hi

No, not runners so I am just going off of other images I have seen from runner sites. The bulge seems to be consistently there but I will keep a closer eye to see if it ever goes down at all. I guess the inability to get up off it's back is the more concerning part.

I am feeding a standard starter with an electrolyte supplement in the water that lists niacin. Should I up that with additional sources?

The package says 25 mg per gallon I believe- I suppose it's hard to say how much he's actually ingesting so maybe I will look for a other form

I would sounds like the little one needs more. Having it in water they spill so much and it’s diluted too. I put Nutritional yeast over my Runner ducklings feed 1 tab to each cup of feed. But if they are having problems then they would get the liquid B complex

Get the liquid b complex at TSC or another feed store and don’t worry it says injectable we give it orally.
