I didn't think your bird looked mottled...but a little 'off' looking from a breedable bird...if that makes sense. I am still really new to the lav orps and learning so my opinion might not count at this point lol

I am super eggcited to be working on lav. orp project birds! I am going this month to pick up some good black orps to go with my lavs. I am planning on raising French BCMs and Lavender Orpingtons and staying as true as I can to their breeds. I have learned so much already and am learning patience in the process...something I need more of.

Geez why so much arguing over bird colors? Maybe I'm wrong, but I didnt take it as the OP complaining about the off coloring in her project birds, Just that she thought it was unusual.

In any event, I love the lavenders, and judging by the price the auctions have been going for, so do a lot of people. Which leads me to believe that those that complain about the birds or the project are only jealous they didnt develop it first.

I looked at the foreign site jody posted, and wow! Now those are some orpingtons! Beautiful! I didnt even know laced orpingtons existed!!

If ya'll dont like lavender orpingtons, or dont want to take the time to work on a project breed, dont get them, no one says you have to.
