I have 4 Lovely Buff Orpingtons. One of them is laying odd looking eggs. Not the normal egg shape. Instead the eggs are elongated and pointy on both ends. We call them torpedo eggs! Any ideas about this from the BYC folks out there??

One of my RIRs also lays torpedos. Not super pointy, just really elongated. They don't fit too well in an egg carton, lol!

I think some chickens just do that. I don't think it means anything is wrong, but then again, I'm new to this...

Your absolutely right, you can't close the egg carton. Good news is my grandkids like to have torpedo eggs for their breakfast. They think it is very funny. Sometimes the shells also have very small warts of extra shell on the egg. Thanks, glad to know mine arn't only torpedo generating hens. dasher
