Odd Situation with Breeder on Ebay

I too have bought eggs from ebay. I think the seller MAY be new to selling eggs but by no means is she trying to scam you. I think some people are a little internet wary and get scared if something doesn't go by the book and want to leave negative feedback. She sounds like she is doing all she can in this situation. The only time I would leave neg feedback is if the seller was not willing to make the situation right. We here all have and love chickens, we know things happen... I say if she refunds you, I would leave neutral feedback, simply stating, "problem fulfilling order, full refund issued, seller willing to work to resolve". This way if it becomes a trend with her people can see it. I too would buy from this seller but I always make it VERY clear that I pay IMMEDIATELY and I want only the freshest eggs. If after monday she still doesn't have enough eggs I would ask for a complete refund, and then if she is one of few that have the breed I would ask if I could email her in spring to see if things have picked up just so you keep your options open to later get eggs from her if you cannot find them anywhere else. Like said above feedback is optional. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything atall" UNLESS they REALLY rip you off(and aren't willing to work to fix)...... then be honest, state the facts and let everyone know how much they SUCK!!

Just my rambling opinion...

I just want to point out for those who may not realize. Neutral feedback is basically the same as Negative. At least in Ebay's eyes it is...and it drives the seller rating down. I'm not so sure that is appropriate for this situation since she is offering to resolve the situation and refund your money. When you bid on eggs, as a buyer you have to consider that there is a chance the hen will not follow thru and if you've bid on a reputable seller's eggs, they will do the right thing. You cannot blame the seller for their hen not producing. I am pretty impressed that they communicated this with you honestly and offered a prompt refund.

i used to sell my eggs on ebay. and there were times that my hens will be laying like crazy and then it'll rain or get hott or maybe my hens were just pms'ing. whatever the reason, they'll stop cold. and not lay for several days. all the hens! and i only liked to sell the eggs that were 3 days old or fresher. it takes a day to get them to the P.O., then it's priority mail, which can take 3 days...by the time it gets to the buyer, it's been 7 days. then the buyer needs to let it rest for half a day and get them to room temp, etc etc.

it got to where i was panicking my eggs would not be of high quality and trying to explain this got cumbersome, so i stopped selling eggs on ebay. easier to just sell them here.

I'd report her as well. I also feel she lied and now you are the one with the hassle of getting your money back. She needs to be marked as not a good seller for sure. I buy on ebay all the time. Never has a person not had what I bought, that would tick me off!!!

I could see being mad if this was an item, such as a sweater, but when your are dealing with live animals, things happen.

I would leave positive feedback, stating that she offered you a refund, since her chickens want on strike. If she was going to scam you, she would never have offered you a refund. Or she would have sent you the old eggs. Most people would want to send the freshest possible, to better your hatch rate. I think leaving negative feed back would be very unreasonable, as long as she refunds your money or her hens start laying and she ships eggs.

I would leave positive feedback and just get your money back. It is actually just as much your fault as hers since you waited to send payment. I realize that she gave that offer in her action but everyone knows to be assured the freshest of eggs you send payment as soon as you win the action. She lost the sale of the eggs she was going to have to send you since she had to eat or throw out the eggs that were collected for you at the end of the action but then you didnt pay right away. Also you waited 2 days to send payment instead of just 1 Which then took you to the weekend and since most people dont want their eggs send over a weekend she had to wait even longer. Next time you might ask that the eggs be shipped on Saturday. I do that often since the mail does continue to go on Sundays, it is just not delivered so it will come on monday or tuesday. I have found that my eggs are in much better shape when I do it that way. I dont think the weekend workers beat the boxes so bad.lol I hope I dont sound to harsh but when buying eggs you should only bid if you plan on paying at actions end so you can get the eggs shipped out asap. Hope things work out and you get your eggs. Jenn

What freaking hassle??????

If you paid with a credit card, your get a credit back! If you paid with a money order or check, you either get your check back and tear it up, get your money order back or a new money order from the seller, endorse it, then deposit it in your bank account!!! Again, I ask, WHAT FREAKING HASSLE?????:thun Have folks actually gotten that d@mned LAZY???????

I just went back and read every, and I do mean every post in this thread. I was quite pleased that the majority of the posts here are from peopole who remember that when buying eggs on Ebay you are dealing with people (most of which are human and make mistakes) and animals (extremely unpredictable at best). You seem to be able to exercise a bit of common sense. And, you seem to be able to temper your judgements with considerably more compassion and understand than fear and lack of trust!!!!

The others.... well, let's just say that I hope you never buy anything from me!!!! It would be my fear that if you had already paid me, I made an honest mistake and tried to make it right by offering you your money back, you would CRUCIFY me!!!! And, that AIN'T right!!!!!!!

This poor Ebay seller has aparently made a mistake and done everything in her power to make things right. Yet, there are those of you who lambast her for it!!

I just hope that you are as perfect as your "judgements" say that you are!! But, I doubt it!! If you are not as perfect as you expect others to be, I hope that others will at least be as understanding and compassionate toward you as you have been in your posts in this thread!!!

Oh BTW Jody, you are right about neutral feedback. If that's the feedback you are going to leave, it's almost as detrimental as negative feedback is. As another poster said, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything!!

The aparent total lack of human compassion and understanding that some of you have displayed in your posts has infuriated me!!! But, more than that.... it has really disappointed me in you!

Hmm..

Well, it's Monday. No, she hasn't contacted me yet, but I'm sure just forgot. I'll send her an e-mail tomorrow if I don't hear anything.

I don't recall that I said I was leaving negative feedback.. guess I wasn't clear. I have purchased on e-bay before and never run into a problem, and have never left either neg/or neutral feedback. HOWEVER, in the event that this takes longer than 30days to close, I think at THAT POINT I have every right to be irritated. I'm not saying that it will, but if it does I want to be informed as to what my actions can be.

And sorry.. the theory that it was my fault because I didn't pay THAT DAY doesn't float. If THAT was her policy than #1, the page should have said that, and I would have been more prompt. I don't consider paying on day 2, when I have 7 days, late or breach of any sort of commitment. She also stated on her page that I could've paid with MO or Check.. so if I had sent THAT, and it took the 3-4days to get there, would I have been at fault? Hmm.. I don't see it at all. #2, Sale closed past busi hrs on Wednesday, and her page said she would only ship mon-wed, so therefore, was not going to be shipping on Thurs, anyway.

I realize some of the.. um.. allegations here on this thread were my fault, since I didn't clarify. At no point in this, however do I feel that I was at fault, and it saddens me that this has become a me vs. her, which it is not. I simply expect people to back up what they say they will do. I did in this case, and expected her to, also. I have communicated with this woman through e-mail even before the auction closed. I actually like her. She seems nice enough. Just not sure what is going on here.

I'm still giving her the benefit of the doubt, although I admit today was a bit of a strain on it. I expected an e-mail from her this morning letting me know the situation. We'll see what happens.

I thank you all for your input. And I honestly appreciate those who took the time to assess this situation and give me their opinions in a non-judgemental, neutral way.

Glad to hear that you still have an open mind. And, I'm equally sorry to hear that she hasn't contacted you yet. I understand that not hearing from her on Monday put a strain on your trust in her. But, any number of things could have happened there also. In the past, if I've not heard from a seller when I should have (or thought I should have), I've always taken the initiative and emailed them. As you said, she may have forgotten. Or, she may have gotten sick. Or, she may have had a family emergency. Or, her house may have burned to the ground.... That's what happened to me the day after I won an auction December, 2003. Needless to say, I was a bit late with communications and with payment. I don't think the seller believed me and he definately was not happy, but thankfully he didn't crucify me either.

I'd simply email her and ask if the eggs have shipped yet. If not, I'd email her again and ask her to simply refund my money. At any rate, I truly wish you the best of luck!!

BTW, what kind of chickens were/are the eggs comming from??
