So I’ve had some odd shapes, footballs and duck farts. Caulky ones, crusty ones and soft shelled ones. But I’ve only had a few of these with the Dairy Queen top. I’m not overly concerned however I lost my lovely Cayuga who did develop a reproductive problem. I’m somewhat familiar with their rather complex reproductive anatomy and well it kind of makes sense however I’m gunshy it could be a prelude to a potential problem.

Any thoughts from those with experience here? I’m am overly concerned Pappa I think. Well I hope! Thanks KC

I've had some with the swirl on top as well. I've also found some with little egg hats. I just shrug and remind myself that eggs are weird. I still give them away.

Thanks to all who’ve replied. I’m not too worried about the eggs. I’ve already eaten them w/o reservation.

I’m only concerned about the duck and concerned she is normal and this is not a sign of a problem with her ovaries or reproductive bits.

They are as delicious as the rest of them! Don’t even want to touch as chicken egg anymore lol…. Heck I rarely eat eggs out for that reason.

My girls gift the neighbors and I with precious ivory every morning. I had 15 eggs this am! Every blessed gal gave me a treat.

I've actually taken my ducks, and their odd eggs, to an avian vet. The duck who has made the most odd eggs is now at least 8 years old. Her vet says she likely has a defective egg shell gland. Almost every egg she makes appears strange in some way, lopsided, has a hat, a tail, whatever. My vet even dissolved the "hat" and examined it under a microscope. It was just shell material. They can't actually detect anything wrong with my 8 year old duck, despite blood work and x-rays. So... I think if your ducks are eating and acting ducky they are probably fine, too! Eggs are complicated, so it seems reasonable for there to be an oops now and then.
